To follow along on your computer, you will need to have Adobe InDesign installed. The trial version is fine.

And you can also download and install uCreate Print from the XMPie website. To start, open the Black Friday InDesign file.

You will see that the document includes some fonts that are missing. If you have used Adobe Fonts before,

they will automatically download and activate. Otherwise, you will see a dialog asking if you want to activate fonts from Adobe.

Next we need to find the Dynamic Content panel. If it is not displayed, open it from Windows menu

When placing dynamic content into a small text frame like this, you should check to make sure all your data values will fit.

You can find the longest store name by using the right-click context menu in the Dynamic Content panel.

I can see this one overflows the text box, so select the frame, right-click and we can add copy fitting.

For text, you can control the font size, horizontal scaling and leading individually. For just one row, leading is not relevant.

OK. It is common for all the address fields to be in upper case. If you want to do that, I've already shown two options.

Another design choice could be to leave the firstname in title case here.

Sometimes you may need to format numbers in a specific way. I want to pre-pad the sort id with zeros so it is always 5 digits long,

For the product images, we should first set the assets folder location so the application knows where to find the graphics.

Now for the postal barcode. The data file includes two different styles of address data. Intelligent Mail and DAFT.

You can use either one, but the type of barcode we select will be different depending on the data you want to use.

Adobe and XMPie support both OpenType and TrueType fonts.

But if you are new to using barcodes, XMPie implements barcodes as graphics rather than as text with a barcode font.

So, our first step is to change the Content Object type to Graphic and then Edit the rule.

First we need to select XMPBarcode. And then the type of barcode we want. If you are using the DAFT data, you will need to select DAFT.
